2016 Keymorada Journal (56000 KB)
The Keymorada was the brainchild of two brothers; Mitchell Widom, a partner with Bilzin Sumberg, and Glenn Widom of Glenn L. Widom PA. The event was founded in 2004 after Mitch’s daughter Taylor was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 10. In a bitter twist of fate, Glenn was also diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2016. Together with Co-Chairs Alicia Widom (Mitch’s wife) and Ellen Shapiro (whose son suffers from Crohn’s), and to the incredible support of the tournaments many sponsors, donors, and participants, the Keymorada has now raised over $5.5 million to date for the CCFA and the UMCCC. In addition, over 200 law firms throughout Florida and the United States who have joined our efforts to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis by participating in and donating to our Thomson Reuters Law Firm Challenge. The 2016 Law Firm Challenge winner is Akerman LLP.
The fishing tournament takes place each year during the second week of May, at the beautiful Cheeca Lodge Resort & Spa in Islamorada Florida. The 2016 Keymorada Grand Champion is Dan Heller of Pinecrest, Florida. The 2016 Esrick Family Dream Foundation Flycasting Distance Champion is Capt. Brett Greco and the Accuracy Champion is Capt.
