About the Keymorada Event

The 2011 Sabadell United Keymorada Invitational Fishing Tournament to benefit The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) has just concluded and is proud to announce that it has raised over $472,000 for the CCFA and to help start the first Crohn's & Colitis Center in South Florida, at the University of Miami. Along with its numerous Sponsors, over 170 law firms throughout Florida and the United States have joined forces to raise awareness of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. These law firms, which usually go head to head in the courtroom, have found common ground in the battle against these debilitating diseases that often afflict children. The 2011 LexisNexis Law Firm Challenge Champion was Grossman Roth, P.A., of Miami, for the sixth consecutive year.

The Tournament is the brainchild of two brothers, Mitchell and Glenn Widom, attorneys in Miami with Bilzin Sumberg and Glenn L. Widom, P.A., who have co-chaired the event since 2005 after Mitch’s daughter, Taylor, was diagnosed with Crohn's. In only seven years, thanks to the incredible support of the Tournament’s Sponsors, Participants and Guides, the Keymorada has raised over $2.5 million for the CCFA, and has been recognized at its national convention as “The Most Unique Event in the Country".

Rob Ruwitch of Miami is the 2011 Krieger Keymorada Grand Champion and in addition to a beautiful trophy and a Kreiger Lunar Chronometer, Rob received an invitation to the prestigious IGFA Championship Series. Captain Steve Leopold, on Yabba-dabba-doo out of Holiday Isle Marina in Islamorada, received top honors as the 2011 Keymorada Grand Champion Guide. The Top Fly Angler was Andy Yaffa, of Miami - a former two-time Keymorada winner. Top Fly Guide honors were taken by Captain Kris Suplee of Montana.

The Tournament takes place each year during the second week of May. The 2012 event will once again be held at the beautiful Cheeca Lodge & Spa, in Islamorada, Florida.
